2012 Forum – Measuring Data Center Energy Productivity Through Productivity Proxies

06 March, 2012 | Presentation

Zeydy Ortiz, Ph.D., IBM

The Green Grid introduced the Data Center Energy Productivity (DCeP) metric to track the overall work product of a data center per unit of energy used to produce that work. Since DCeP can be difficult to implement, TGG proposed eight productivity proxies that would be used as simple indicators of productivity. Last year, The Green Grid performed a validation study at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to evaluate the ease of use and accuracy of the proxies. This session will present the results of the validation study, examine measuring productivity in the context of the DCMM, and discuss future direction.
