2012 EMEA Forum – Understanding IT Reliability and Energy Consumption

21 November, 2012 | Presentation

Steve Strutt, IBM

This session discusses The Green Grid’s white paper, “Data Center Efficiency and IT Equipment Reliability at Wider Operating Temperature and Humidity Ranges.” Extending the environmental operating parameters of a data center is an accepted approach to reducing overall energy consumption. Relaxing tight control over temperature and humidity should result in less power required to cool the data center. However, the impact of increased data center operating temperature on IT equipment has historically been presumed to be detrimental to the equipment’s reliability and service availability.
