Summary of Server Carbon Footprints Across Two Product Generations
This white paper compares the carbon footprints of an 11th generation and 12th generation Dell server. While the absolute carbon footprint attributed to manufacturing has gone up generation-over-generation, this is more than offset by a decrease in the carbon footprint of the server during the use phase. Overall the carbon intensity of the 12th generation server decreased by 28%, with respect to compute power, compared to the 11th generation server.
