We are passing through many worldwide changes due to the digital transformation era. In under a decade, think how profoundly your personal and professional life has been affected by technology. The world continues to digitize quickly. Entrepreneurs who are thinking about innovation and want to develop successful digital businesses must understand why DevOps is so important to success.

Before DevOps

Let me go back a bit. Let’s revisit 2013, just as agile methodologies were becoming a necessity for the vast majority of developers. As time between software iterations decreased, operations teams turned into the bottleneck for deployment.

From that moment on, it could seem like the two sides were at war. Developers were eager to deliver applications faster. On the other side, operations struggled to maintain business process at an increased pace. The consequence:  teams were isolated by their own needs, and not the needs of the overall business.

The DevOps approach began taking off.  It proposes bringing both teams together by automating processes and integrating agile methodologies. It aims to transform the application lifecycle management with concepts of continuous delivery, continuous testing, continuous feedback and collaboration.

What DevOps delivers

Building, testing and delivering software has changed under DevOps. It has frequently become agile and synchronized across development and operations teams. It offers better visibility of processes, clearer responsibilities, and  a better view of business results. Due to automation and continuous delivery principles, DevOps development is less susceptible to risks, errors and failure.

Today, applications can be synonymous with innovation. The sooner this innovation gets into the competitive market, the better for the company.  Your customers get updated apps faster, which can mean happier customers. You can even create new business opportunities and find ways to reduce costs. In the digital world, faster delivery can mean the difference between success and failure. But that requires a monitoring solution ensuring almost 100 percent availability.

DevOps results in the real world

In the past couple years, more and more companies have experienced success by shifting operations and management in the DevOps tool chain.

Here in Brazil, our company CAMSS GROUP works with companies that have achieved great results with DevOps and are leading their segments with digital solutions. The most recent is Softplan, one of the largest independent software vendors in Brazil for management software. Among all the outcomes that DevOps brought for them, one highlight stands out: they cut in half their time-to-market to deliver their digital solution to the Brazilian Court of Justice, Procuracy and Public Prosecutor’s Office. This benefited millions of Brazilians.
