Many utilities provide financial incentives to organizations that implement efficiency projects or initiatives. A utility program can often fund 25% to 70% of a qualifying efficiency project. These programs have been in existence for up to 30 years, but it is only very recently that utilities have recognized the need to reach out to the IT community as computer and data center energy use continues to grow. Learning how to streamline the process of applying for and receiving incentive funds can substantially reduce the costs of increasing efficiency in your data center.
