The Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011 was an unprecedented disaster. This white paper provides an overview of the disaster, its impact on data centers, and how data centers are responding to the worsening power situation following the disaster. It also describes trends in data centers in Japan in an environment where greater energy efficiency is required, and describes case studies of efforts to improve data center energy efficiency.
