Summary:
The data center environment is undergoing a period of unprecedented transformation. I would like to introduce a hypothesis that I proposed at our in-house research group, "What will the next-generation data center environment be like?"
First, I will explain our definition of "data center environment." This environment will go through milestones about every 10 years with a number of related technologies, and I will summarize it as a "generational overview of the data center environment," which predicts that it will evolve further in the future. We conducted a technology scan of the advanced technologies that will drive the evolution, and I will report the results of that verification.
Finally, I would like to introduce our conclusion that the next-generation data center environment will have the aspect of "changes to the business infrastructure itself" and the direction of "two major vectors."
The "two major vectors" are the "cloud computing environment" and the "edge (fog) computing" environment.
It is difficult to predict the future as the speed of evolution of advanced technologies accelerates, but that is why I think that such hypothesis-making is important.
