Nobuo Sashida

As one of the translators, I will explain the Japanese versions of The Green Grid's white papers (WPs) that have been published recently or will be published soon, which are attracting a lot of attention.

•WP#48 "Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Eco Mode Evaluation"
UPS eco mode is an effective method for improving PUE, which is also taken up in the Data Center Maturity Model (DCMM). I will explain about the UPS eco mode, which has not yet been widely adopted in Japan, and its potential for improving energy efficiency.

•WP#63 "Free Power Quality"
As The Green Grid has expressed its support by publishing a free cooling map, free cooling is becoming widely adopted in the data center industry as a method to improve the energy efficiency of air conditioning equipment. I will also explain free power quality, which is proposed as a method to improve the energy efficiency of power supply equipment.

•WP#62 "Environmental Impact of Data Centers"
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a useful methodology for determining the environmental impact of products, but data centers are so diverse that applying LCA is extremely complex. This paper summarizes the environmental impact of data centers into five main categories and defines objectives, measurement methods, and performance indicators.
