With the increased push for carbon-free and sustainable data centers, data center operators are increasingly looking to renewable energy as a means to approach carbon-free status and be more sustainable. The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) is a world leader in hydrogen research and already has an elaborate hydrogen infrastructure in place at the Golden (CO) state-of-the-art data center and facility. This presentation discusses hydrogen generation, storage considerations, and safety issues as they relate to hydrogen delivery to fuel cells powering IT equipment.
