Improvement of airflow management in data centers can enable significant energy savings, increase IT equipment reliability, and increase cooling capacity. While awareness of airflow management benefits are high, a lack of a reliable, cost-effective methodology to calculate airflow management energy savings and return on investment (ROI) hinders adoption, especially in mid-sized to smaller data centers. For utilities to provide funding for these improvements, sound energy savings must be demonstrated.

This session examines existing tools for calculating energy savings and ROI, explores gaps in the existing tools, and demonstrates an example of "utility ready" ROI calculations that can be applied to airflow management efforts in data centers of all sizes.
