A Toast to 2016 as We Welcome 2017
At this time of year, I often find myself reflecting on recent accomplishments and excitedly looking ahead to what the new year may bring.
The Green Grid has had yet another successful year bringing new metrics, best practices, and impactful research to the ICT industry. Thanks to the diligent efforts of our members, the Performance Indicator, Liquid Cooling Technology Update, and assessments of the ride-through performance of equipment power supplies and the guidelines determining the susceptibility of power supply units to disturbances and outages are all contributing to data center improvements.
It was an especially proud moment when the U.S. Department of Energy’s data center energy usage report noted the difference our members make to gains in energy efficiency, and I would like to take a moment to recognize all who have played a pivotal role in advancing The Green Grid’s mission.
2017 marks the start of our 10th year, and we are kicking it off with a bang!
As you may have seen, we have an all-new website that reflects the association’s position as the industry voice for more efficient use of resources. It boasts a modern look-and-feel, makes it easy to find and access resources, shares news, events, project updates, and thoughtful commentary on resource-efficient IT, and enhances the member and visitor experience.
We are also very pleased to announce that long-time member and passionate efficiency advocate, Roel Castelein, has accepted the newly created role of Membership Director to promote The Green Grid’s growth around the world. Roel is already working hard to communicate the association’s value proposition to prospective members.
In addition, The Green Grid selected its leadership team for the coming year. Lance Rütimann and I will continue in our roles as Vice President and President, while Christopher Kelley and Jason Dodier join as Secretary and Treasurer.
I am looking forward to continuing our momentum and accelerating the charge toward greater resource efficiency. Stay tuned as The Green Grid has a slate of new white papers nearing publication and the work on many projects continues in our work groups and committees.
Best wishes for a Happy New Year!
