IBM has been recognized as a Leader in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions. This is the eighth year in a row, and 13 out 14 years lifetime, IBM has been recognized as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions for both its completeness of vision and its ability to execute in the data protection market.

“IBM’s leadership in data backup and recovery is driven by our proven ability to provide a highly scalable, efficient and modern data protection platform that safeguards our clients’  data wherever it lives: physical machines, VMs, containers and cloud-based services throughout a hybrid multicloud environment,” said Eric Herzog, CMO and Vice President of Global Channel Sales for the IBM Storage Division. “Our position as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant clearly shows how IBM delivers the right solutions for our clients and partners in the Data Center Backup and Recovery market.”

The release of the Gartner report comes after the announcement that IBM is further unifying data management in hybrid multicloud environments. At the top of the list is IBM Spectrum Protect Plus innovations. The solution has added the ability, from a single pane of glass, to backup, recover and reuse Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM Db2 and MongoDB databases running both on premises and on Amazon Web Services (AWS). IBM Spectrum Protect Plus has also added the ability to recover on-premises workloads from IBM Spectrum Protect Plus backup repositories stored in AWS. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is available on the AWS Marketplace, and backup repositories can be automatically deployed on an Amazon EC2 instance from an Amazon Machine Image (AMI).

In addition, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus data archive has added support for Amazon S3 Glacier, Microsoft Azure Archive Storage and IBM Cloud Object Storage Archive. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus also supports the ability to air-gap data on tape, helping you keep your data safe from malware and ransomware attacks.
