With many public cloud adopters moving workloads back on premises due to security and cost concerns, it’s become clear to IT leaders that an “only public” cloud strategy is not the panacea that was promised. Many have instead started embracing “multi-cloud” environments, where some resources and applications are sourced from trusted public cloud providers and others from their on-premises cloud infrastructure. This multi-cloud approach provides IT organizations the flexibility to deploy workloads in the location that ensures security and compliance, while delivering the modern and agile services the business needs.

Granted, this can be a big and complex undertaking for large IT organizations, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting started. With the Entry version of IBM Cloud Private, you can quickly establish a centralized control point for your multi-cloud platform. It includes a self-service catalog to provide developers the most popular apps, run times and secure connectivity to on-premises data and public cloud APIs so that they can build innovative applications faster. It also includes the ability to provide self-service automation for traditional AIX and IBM i applications and VMs, extending the efficiency of cloud to their existing applications. IBM Cloud Private is built on open source frameworks and management tools including Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform, enabling administrators to easily keep their clouds available, secure and compliant.

The latest offering to join the IBM Cloud Private family, the Power Systems Entry version for IBM Cloud Private, was created to provide clients a low-risk, low cost on-ramp to a modern private cloud platform. It provides everything an IT team needs to set up a small Cloud Private cluster, including choice of proven Power Systems hardware configurations and the full Cloud Private software stack. It entitles clients to create a small Cloud Private cluster (32 managed cores) with a centralized catalog, pre-built Helm charts for “try and buy” software, cloud-native DevOps, high availability and 24×7 support from IBM — all for a small fraction of the price of standard Cloud Private Native Edition. The Power bundle delivers all the functionality of IBM Cloud Private for 12 months from the time of installation, after which Cloud Private Cloud Native Edition is available for a special discount just for Entry clients.

IBM Cloud Private and IBM Power Systems are a winning combination. With Cloud Private on Power, clients get all the benefits of Cloud Private to accelerate modernization of app and infrastructure, and development of cloud native apps for analytics and AI. IBM Cloud Private is unique in the market with its ability to natively support and manage multi-architecture environments. It enables a heterogeneous cloud infrastructure with Power Systems, IBM Z and x86 environments.

The Power Systems Entry for Cloud Private runs in a Red Hat, SUSE or Ubuntu Linux partition and can be ordered with any class of Power Systems server: a traditional enterprise-class scale up server, smaller OpenPOWER scale out servers or the super simplified hyperconverged clusters powered by Nutanix. In all cases, clients can be rest assured of the exceptional reliability, security and performance of their Power servers.

If your organization is like many others, it’s struggling to break free of infrastructure silos and get the efficiencies of a centralized control point to deliver modern apps and cloud services. Most organizations have many efforts under way but no real traction when it comes to centralizing automation and self-service for both traditional and modern workloads.

If this sounds like you, consider taking the steps to set up a high-value, low-cost Cloud Private cluster to show the power of a centralized platform to accelerate your organization’s transformation journey to self-service, cloud-native containers and modernization.
