The Linux operating system is supported on every IBM Power Systems server that IBM makes.  Our broad Linux portfolio is based on open technology and an open ecosystem, which are valuable to our Power clients.   Users can run highly scalable, highly reliable and highly flexible Linux environments on Power processor-based servers.  In fact, you can utilize IBM Watson with Linux on Power for the big data, scientific and analytics advantages that Power Systems provides.

PSAI:  A skill-building business

For the last 21 years, the IBM PSAI has worked with colleges and universities to help develop needed Power Systems technology skills for our clients around the world.  Our Linux on Power course offerings are among the most sought-after resources available through the PSAI.  That’s why the PSAI team recently decided to expand its Linux course catalog and include five new Red Hat Enterprise Linux courses.  All five courses are available at no charge to PSAI members.

IBM and Red Hat have been partners for more than 17 years, delivering information technology solutions that help both businesses and IT organizations across the globe.  Red Hat is a leading provider of open source solutions, and IBM is one of the largest Linux contributors.  Red Hat open source products and services offer strong security features and are trusted by more than 90 percent of the Fortune Global 500. 1    In fact, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is certified to run on all IBM server platforms, including Power Systems.

Opportunities abound for graduates with Linux on Power skills and experience

Students with Linux on Power skills will be well equipped to pursue information technology jobs when they graduate.  The five Red Hat Enterprise Linux courses available through the PSAI cover beginner, intermediate and advanced concepts.  Check out these courses OnTheHub today.
