It’s that time of year: Supercomputing 2017 is upon us! Thousands of attendees will flock to the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado, home to the Rockies. We find the location quite fitting for our team at IBM Power Systems, as we celebrate the progress of Summit (named after America’s largest skiing mountain in Utah), and Sierra, two IBM-powered supercomputers being stood up at Oak Ridge National Labs and Lawrence Livermore National Labs, respectively, as part of the Department of Energy’s CORAL program. We see this as our own journey, like scaling a mountain. Because you can easily get caught up in the dozens of sessions we’re participating in, booth demos, Expo floor presentations and all of the surrounding activity at SC17, we are boiling the massive agenda into the five things you can’t afford to miss at SC17!

Register for a seminar in our briefing center

Join IBM and partner experts for a wide selection of customized single client briefings, thought-provoking client seminars and engaging user groups to experience the next leap forward in HPC technology. See the agenda and register here.

See how easy it is to port and optimize GPU-accelerated applications on Power Systems

Kick off your SC17 experience with a tutorial on the POWER CPU architecture that is already being used by Oak Ridge National Labs and Lawrence Livermore National Labs for GPU-accelerated workloads. Join us Monday, November 13 between 8:30AM and 5PM MST in room 405.

Picture yourself in the world’s next great supercomputer

Stop by IBM Booth 1525 to get a first look at Summit, the supercomputer powering Oak Ridge National Labs as a part of the larger Collaboration of Oak Ridge Argonne and Livermore labs (CORAL). Step into our infinite mirror to see what it would be like to walk the rows of servers, and speak with experts in our booth to learn about how Summit will help solve some of the world’s toughest problems.

Discover enterprise-ready deep learning at the NVIDIA Booth Theater

Join IBM’s Director of Deep Learning and HPC, Adel El-Hallak at 12:30PM MST on November 16 at the NVIDIA Booth Theater to learn more about how IBM is making deep learning easier, safer and faster; delivering maximum business value by removing or alleviating key inhibitors in the deep learning workflow.

Discover chip-level coherence with OpenCAPI

OpenCAPI, the new open standard for coherence-enabled attached devices, is bringing a whole new level of flexibility to systems. See how OpenCAPI architecturally ties together transaction layer, link layer, and physical layer attributes to enable high-bandwidth, highly-parallel workloads.

Be sure to stop by IBM Booth 1525 on the Expo floor to learn about other great activities, and share your conference experience with us by tagging #IBMSC17 on social media. See you there!
