The Green Grid Monthly Members Webcast:
Productivity Proxies, Economizer Survey, and Forum 2012

February 9, 2012

10:00-11:00am EST and 4:00-5:00pm EST

The Productivity Proxies, Economizer Survey, and Forum 2012 webcast will take place on Thursday, February 9 at 10:00am-11:00am EST and 4:00pm-5:00pm EST. This session will present a preview of what attendees can expect at The Green Grid Forum 2012, specifically highlighting the Measuring Data Center Energy Productivity through Productivity Proxies and Economizer Survey Results sessions.

The Green Grid’s 5th annual Forum will be held on March 6-7 in San Jose, CA and will include an in-depth look at industry trends affecting the future of resource efficient IT and showcase emerging tools, metrics, best practices, and case studies to help technical, sustainability and business decision makers improve performance.

Members-only registration is now open. Please contact The Green Grid Administration if you have any questions.

Measuring Data Center Energy Productivity through Productivity Proxies
The Green Grid introduced the Data Center Energy Productivity (DCeP) metric to track the overall work product of a data center per unit of energy used to produce that work. Since DCeP can be difficult to implement we proposed eight productivity proxies that would be used as simple indicators of productivity. Last year, The Green Grid performed a validation study at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to evaluate the ease of use and accuracy of the proxies. In this session. Zeydy Ortiz will present the results of the validation study, examine measuring productivity in the context of the Data Center Maturity Model, and discuss future direction.

Economizer Survey Results
In early 2011, The Green Grid conducted a survey to learn more about current economizer awareness, perceptions, and use in the data center industry. The survey’s results indicate that economizers are well-known throughout the data center industry and that adoption is becoming fairly widespread. In this session, Jessica Kaiser and Mark Monroe will highlight some of the most interesting results from this survey.
