As Senior Director of Environmental Technology Strategy at Microsoft, Mark Aggar is focused on reducing the environmental impact of information technology (Greener IT) and championing ways in which it can help the environment (Sustainability through Software).
As a member of Microsoft’s Environmental Sustainability team, Aggar is a pioneer in the effort to highlight how applications, software developers, and the right incentives play a critical role in improving IT resource efficiency, which he documents in his white paper, “The IT Energy Efficiency Imperative”. Aggar currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Green Grid and Climate Savers Computing.
Mark has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles encompassing product planning, implementation, and marketing. He joined Microsoft in October 1999, and has since held positions as Senior Product Manager for Windows Terminal Server and Director of Product Planning for Windows Server. He was instrumental in defining the product planning discipline and pioneering the product value proposition process at Microsoft.
Originally from the south of England, Aggar now lives in the Seattle area with his wife and two children.
