Education Committee

Charter

  • Mission Statement
    • Drive the education of standards, metrics and best practices to enable improvement of the unified voice and promotion of resource efficient IT. The Green Grid Education Committee provides strategic oversight and operational execution of all matters related to Educational opportunities on behalf of The Green Grid. (In priority order)
      • (Experienced members of the Industry-at-large) The Education Committee will also be responsible for creating and executing certification programs for Member companies IT organizations regarding the latest “best-practices” and methodologies for resource efficient IT.
      • (General Industry-at large) The Education Committee also provides oversight and operational management of The Green Grid Academy.
      • (Institutions of Higher Learning, and Industry-at-large) The Education Committee establishes mutually beneficial relationships with institutions of higher learning whereas Green Grid materials may be used for accreditation-based courses and degrees.
  • Structure
    • The Education Committee reports to the Board of Directors. EC creates Workgroups, oversees nomination and election of leaders as needed to focus on specific Workgroup Charters in support of its Mission
      • Chair and core team to be staffed by Adult Learning experts from Members companies
      • Includes representation and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from Technical Committees, Liaison Committee and Communications Committee
  • In-Scope:
    • Establishes (and reviews with the Board of Directors quarterly) learning objectives for alignment with business strategy and objectives of The Green Grid
    • Proposes (and manages) budget for review and approval of Board for all education development
    • Prioritizes and oversees all input and activity for education development, delivery and evaluation
    • Establishes and manages workgroups
    • Determines measures and oversees metrics via Learning Management System (Input to Evaluation)
    • Manages and recommends all partnerships/vendors for execution of process
    • Provide education for members globally and oversight of translations of relevant materials
    • Maintain brand integrity as per the logo and usage guidelines
  • Out-of-Scope:
    • Education Committee does not establish technical points of view.
  • Criteria for Success
    • The amount of TGG-generated content incorporated into Institutions of Higher Learning degree-based and certification-based programs
    • The number of participating member companies
    • Industry and end-user acceptance and adoption of the Education Committee materials
  • Deliverables
    • The Education Committee assembles and delivers educational content to enhance competency and or fulfill an accreditation requirement in the following structure:
      • Courses based on specific learning objectives. For example; “How to Measure”, “Cooling Best Practices”, “Power Best Practices”, etc.
      • Programs (groups of courses) with clearly defined business, technical and educational objectives.
      • Curriculum (which is a collection of programs) to an institution of higher learning in support of degree-based or certification-based programs and in alignment with Green Grid approved materials.
  • Internal Collaboration
    • The Education Committee will rely on ongoing liaisons with the other groups within The Green Grid and external to The Green Grid to ensure the deliverables reflect the needs of end-users, the general membership and the industry.
    • The Education Committee may leverage the general membership for additional non-voting participants as required to develop and produce approved deliverables.
  • About the Group
    • Typical Meeting Schedules
      • The Educational Committee holds monthly conference calls to check progress and strategic alignment internal to its own activities and external to the rest of The Green Grid. This call ensures members have the latest updates on other work in progress within TGG’s other committees (Technical, Liaison and Communications). The Educational Committee Workgroups hold bi-weekly conference calls to check progress and allow for working sessions
    • Communication Mechanisms
      • The Group receives regular updates on the planned and ongoing work of its peer TGG Committees. The Committees deliverables are intended for use in both internal and external communications.
    • Level of involvement
      • Committee members are expected to attend the majority of conference calls and face-to-face sessions and online forums annually. Additionally, group members are expected to participate actively in Liaison and Speaking opportunities on related Education Committee materials.
    • Officers
      • The Committee will have two elected annual positions in the form of Chair and Vice Chair. Other annual positions may be created to accomplish Education Committee business at the request of the committee and approval of the Board of Directors.
