Brad Brech

Distinguished Engineer, IBM
Board Member, The Green Grid


Brad Brech is a Distinguished Engineer in the Systems and Technology Division of IBM in the office of the CTO. As one of the drivers behind IBM’s Project Big Green in 2007, he focused on development and delivery of technologies that help customers increase the level of energy efficiency in their data centers. He worked with many customers in the 4 years since to add these technologies and techniques to their data centers. He is currently the leader of the STG Architecture Board, and continues to work on the Energy Management Design Team, defining cross-IBM Energy Management Solutions for Data Centers. He has a background in virtualization and virtualization management, platform management, and systems integration. Brad is the member of the IBM Academy of Technology and a leader in several Technical Vitality groups within IBM. Since joining IBM in 1982, after graduating Steven’s Institute of Technology in New Jersey, he has worked on most aspects of systems design, from chip design to application development. In addition to his role with the STG Technology Office, he continues to work on Smarter Planet projects including Energy Efficient Data Centers and Smarter buildings.
