The session addressed the current status on the liaisons that The Green Grid has developed in EMEA and the corresponding works in progress. It particularly focused on the new initiatives being taken by the European Commission as far as capturing carbon emissions and measuring energy efficiency in the ICT world in which the data centre industry and The Green Grid are playing a major role. It also addressed the last news on the European Code of Conduct on data centres.
This session also included a discussion on a new glossary wiki of common terms for the data centre industry. This glossary was created in order to establish common terminology for data centres. It will be moderated by the BCS Data Centre Specialist Group and by The Green Grid EMEA Technical Work Group. Using a wiki capability gives The Green Grid members, BCS members, and others an opportunity to contribute through direct reviewing and updating terms in the glossary.
